The camera locks the focus when the focus adjustment is achieved. Use [Single- shot AF] when the subject is motionless.

AF-C

(Continuous AF)

The camera continues to focus while the shutter button is pressed and held halfway down. Use this when the subject is in motion.

DMF

Allows you to use manual focus and auto focus in combination.

MF

(Manual Focus)

Adjusts the focus manually.

When you press the shutter button halfway down in still image shooting mode, a green frame is displayed around the area that is in focus. When the Face Detection function is active, AF operates with priority on faces.

Autofocus Modes

Center

Focuses on a subject in the center of the finder frame automatically. Using the AF lock function together, you can compose the image the way you want.

Center

Center focus can be used to lock focus and reframe.

Flexible Spot

Allows you to move the AF range finder frame to the desired point on the screen and focus on an extremely small subject in a narrow area.

Flexible Spot

[Flexible Spot] is useful when you shoot a subject that is not in the center of the frame. You can shoot the subject without changing the composition.

Tracking Focus

The camera tracks the subject and adjusts the focus automatically even when the subject is moving.

Tracking Focus

Press • on the control wheel. The target frame appears.
Place the target frame over the subject you want to focus on, and press •. Tracking begins.
Press the shutter button to shoot the image.
To cancel tracking focus before shooting, press • again.
When you use the following functions, the AF range finder frame is disabled and appears in a dotted line. In this case, the camera works to focus on the subjects at the center of the screen. Zoom functions other than optical zoom.
